Gearing up your heroes is the whole point of Task Bar Hero — your party fights on its own, but you decide what it wears. This guide covers gear rarity, the affixes that make each piece worth keeping, crafting from the materials you gather, and reforging with the Cube.
Every piece of equipment has a rarity, and higher rarities are stronger and carry more affixes. There are five tiers:
Rarity sets the ceiling, but affixes are the bonuses printed on a piece — they're what tailor gear to a hero's role. Affixes like Sharp and Keen push damage, Vital and Hearty add survivability, and Sturdy and Guarded harden your defenses. A higher-rarity item rolls more affixes, so a Legendary or Mythic piece can stack several bonuses at once. Two items of the same rarity can be worlds apart depending on which affixes they carry — which is where crafting and reforging come in.
As your heroes fight, they gather crafting materials — iron, leather, magic dust, soulstone, and more. Spend those materials in your inventory to craft weapons, armor, and accessories. Crafting is how you turn a pile of drops into gear you can actually equip, and it keeps your party's power climbing between loot upgrades.
The Cube is where good gear becomes great. Feed it a piece of equipment and you can reforge it two ways:
Between crafting and the Cube, you're never stuck with what drops — you can steer your gear toward exactly the affixes and rarity your party needs.
Loot is most powerful when it fits the hero. Damage affixes go furthest on your wave-clearing DPS, survivability affixes keep a Tanker on the front line longer, and a Healer stretches your runs even further with the right defensive rolls. Read the class guide → to decide who should wear what.
